The annual Easter Collection for the support of your priest take place on Easter Sunday. Envelopes are available in the boxes of envelopes many parishioners have, or spare ones are available in all churches. Each parish is now asked to financially support their own local priest, and this collection goes towards his usual day to day expenses, such as the usual bills and expenses. On behalf of all the local priests, we thank you most sincerely for your support to us in our local parish communities.

COLLECTIONS

The accounts for last years are posted on the Notice boards. Your weekly and monthly building fund contributions in the parish are vital in keeping the churches open, and we thank you most sincerely for your ongoing support. GOOD FRIDAY – HOLY PLACES COLLECTION

On Good Friday, the Catholic Church throughout the world will take up a very special collection – the “Collection for the Holy Land.” This special collection originated from the Popes wishes to maintain a strong bond between the Holy Places of the Holy Land and all Christians of the world. It is the main source of sustenance for life around the Holy Places, and is also the tool through which the Custody of the Holy Land is able to sustain and carry forward the important mission to which it is called: to preserve the holy places, the stones of memory, and to favour the Christian presence, the living stones of the Holy Land, through many activities of solidarity such as the maintenance of pastoral, educational, welfare, health and social structures.

The territories which benefit from the Collection are Jerusalem, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Cyprus, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Turkey, Iran and Iraq. Collections will take place at all ceremonies and Stations of the Cross that day. Thank you in advance for your support.

UKRAINE

You may remember that we held a collection in the Diocese for support for the Church in Ukraine last March to which there was a very generous response.  Some of this money went to the support of priests.   Here is an account of the work of a group of Chaplains working in this war torn country:

“Our chaplains worked heroically this winter, providing for those soldiers who were most in need. They visited about 1500 soldiers at the front lines and frontline towns (Liman, Nove, Siversk, Izyum, Krasnogorevtsy, Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, etc.). They delivered warm clothes, necessary equipment, generators, field stoves, burners, flashlights, gas cans, etc. But our chaplains cared not only for the soldiers, but also for many people staying in the front line zone. They delivered food packages, warm clothes, gifts for children, and gasoline. But, most importantly, they brought prayer and God’s Word to them on every trip.”

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT TO THIS APPEAL LAST YEAR!
