FIRST HOLY COMMUNION DAY

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
In his pastoral letter last October Bishop Cullinan highlighted the challenges we in the church are currently facing. He has asked each pastoral area to look at our Mass times and schedules and how best we can pool our resources together collectively whilst doing our utmost to provide services to people on a weekly basis but particularly of course at baptisms funerals and other sacraments.

The Parish Councils of Ardfinnan Ballybacon Grange, Newcastle Fourmilewater, Touraneena and The Nire will be meeting at 7.30pm on Monday 22nd April to discuss how we can manage our local area going forwards from the summer, and where needed, support our other local churches in our Pastoral Area. A report will then be submitted to Bishops House and to parishioners in the coming weeks.

TROCAIRE APPEAL
PLEASE RETURN your Trocaire Boxes into the Sacristy or Parish Office. Thank you in advance for your usual generous support for those in greatest need in our world at this time.

COLLECTION ON VOCATIONS SUNDAY
This weekend on Good Shepherd Sunday, we are being asked to help to support our three students who are studying for the priesthood for the Diocese of Waterford & Lismore.  Bishop Cullinan has written a letter to all the faithful of the Diocese seeking support for the education of our future priests. This letter can be collected from the back of the church. Please remember to pray for our seminarians and to pray for vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood.

Rather than a second collection, envelopes are provided for this collection and any ‘extra’ in our weekly offering will go towards this important diocesan collection. Many thanks for your generous support.

ARRANGING A BAPTISM OR A CHURCH WEDDING
The ones responsible for arranging a baptism are the parents of the child to be baptised and they also complete the necessary paperwork. Parents should think carefully about who they will ask to be Godparents as they are to be people of practicing faith who will assist the parents in their child’s faith development. It is also a recommendation that there be only two Godparents – a Godfather and a Godmother – and that they be at least sixteen years of age and have been Confirmed in the Catholic Faith.

BAPTISMS
Please contact the Parish Office on 052-746 4408.

EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT-
This takes place in our parishes on:
Tuesday’s 10-11am in Ardfinnan
Friday’s 2.30-3.30 in Newcastle
Everyone is welcome to come and spend some time in quiet prayer and adoration.
