This takes place in our parishes on:
Tuesday’s 10-11am in Ardfinnan
Friday’s 2.30-3.30 in Newcastle

Everyone is welcome to come and spend some time in quiet prayer and adoration.

PADDY NOONAN MONTHS MIND

 A Months Mind Mass for Paddy will take place on Wednesday 9th August at 7.30pm in Ardfinnan Church, with refreshments afterwards in the hall.

CEMETERY WEEK MASSES

 

Sincere thanks to everyone who attended and assisted at the Cemetery Week Masses and blessing of graves last week. Despite some rain on some days, there was a lovely turnout.

On a personal level, can I thank Fr Frawley and Fr Jim Denmead who assisted while I was away at a family bereavement earlier in the week.

 

DIOCESAN CHANGES:

Bishop Cullinan has this week announced the following:

Very Rev. Canon Edmond Cullinan returning from his role as Vice Rector, Irish College to become Co-Parish Priest of Stradbally, residing in Newtown and assisting in Newtown and Kilrossanty as part of the priest team. 

Very Rev. Paul F. Murphy is to remain in Army Chaplaincy. 

Very Rev. Tom Flynn is retiring, stepping down to become Pastor Emeritus. 

Reverend John Fortune, I.C., Priest in Charge, Carrickbeg Parish.  Administration of Carrickbeg Parish will be overseen by Reverend Father Paul Waldron.  

 

VICARS FORANE:

It was decided that the appointment of a Vicar Forane in each area would be very beneficial to create greater unity among the priests and to coordinate Common Pastoral Activity, in the diocese.

The Bishop has appointed 8 Vicar Foranes across the diocese, and included is Fr Michael Toomey for this pastoral area including Ardfinnan, Newcastle/ Fourmilewater, Touraneena/ The Nire,  and Cahir, Clogheen, Ballyporeen and Ballylooby.

WORLD YOUTH DAY

This week, World Youth Day takes place in Lisbon. very year, the Church is called to reflect upon and celebrate youth and young adults. The Global Celebration of Young People takes place annually on the Solemnity of Christ the King. We wish Bishop Cullinan and our own local youth representatives every good wish and blessing as they attend this lovely and important event for our church’s young members.

Please note that for the protection and security of everyone CCTV cameras are in operation in our churches. All of our Masses are Live streamed in Ardfinnan and are at other times broadcast from Newcastle , Fourmilewater, Ballybacon and Grange on Churchservices.tv and Facebook Live pages.

 

BAPTISMS

Please contact the Parish Office on 052-746 4408 or Fr Michael in Newcastle / Fourmilewater for those who wish to book baptisms in the coming months. We can now have two families at one time – but would ask that each family only bring a maximum of 15 people with them, to keep us all safe.
